Find it on HeinOnline

February 24, 2017

Recently, I was tasked with reviewing the series of videos Quimbee.com created for HeinOnline’s YouTube channel.  These videos were designed as a crash course in navigating Hein’s extensive collection.  Now, if you’re unfamiliar with Hein, it is a legal database (like Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw) that contains the worlds largest image-based legal research collection and contains more than nine centuries of legal history.  Yes, you read that right, NINE CENTURIES OF LEGAL HISTORY!  Hein has a massive collection.

Frankly, Hein’s database is very user-friendly.  If you can use Google (and who can’t?), you can HeinOnline!  Looking for a case, there’s a link for that!  Looking for a periodical, there’s a link for that!  Interested in International Law?  Well, you guessed it, there’s a link for that, too!  Hein designed their interface to suit any user, not just us sophisticated legal geniuses.

The series of videos Quimbee created for Hein cover a wide array of topics.  These videos provide information on how to create a MyHein account, navigating Hein’s congressional documents collection, retrieving case law, and how to conduct a legislative intent search.  The videos give the users a good overall understanding of how to navigate through Hein’s vast collection of legal materials.

Ultimately, if you're a novice legal researcher or would like a better understanding of what resources can be found on HeinOnline’s database, than I would absolutely recommend you visit HeinOnline’s YouTube channel and browse through their collection of “how-to” videos.
