Reduce your ticket fines!

September 8, 2015

Many of us have been there (or are still there), tickets, they’re no fun! If you’re still there, here’s some news that may brighten up your day.  Starting October 1st you may be eligible to get your traffic ticket or other infraction debts reduced 50-80% and or have your driver’s license reinstated. Thank you Senate Bill 85! There are several factors that will determine your eligibility, some include:

  • due date of fines (due on or before January 1 ,2013)
  • no payments have been made on after June 24, 2015
  • income
  • number/type of ticket(s)

Parking tickets, reckless driving, and DUI offenses are not eligible for this amnesty.  This video made by the CA Courts goes a little more in depth about eligibility requirements. For more detailed information about the program visit the Revenue and Collections unit web site and Vehicle Code Section 42008.7. You can inquire about eligibility and the amnesty process with the court where you received your ticket (starting October 1st). Until then prepare yourself by getting informed and locating your court.
